app expose on mac mini OS X 10.10.5

I am wondering if anyone know what all of the files are when using App Expose with text edit (I'm guessing the answer will be the same for all apps). It shows 5 files below the open (and empty, in my test case) window that was open on the desktop. Is it the 5 last opened files?
