How to Fix the lost Bootcamp Partition after Resizing Mac OS X Partition

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2008User uploaded file with OS X 10.10.5 (14F27).

Today I try to change my Macbook partition sizes and Windows Bootcamp would not show in the Boot menu. I installed CampTune demo to resize bootcamp size to add 100gb to the current bootcam partition. but now my Bootcamp partition is gone and cant be seen in disk utility. 😟

I try it out this program but it is stuck at the "Your system is being scanned for a Boot Camp Configuration" screen and goes no where. I've let it sit for quite some time. I've rebooted and tried, repaired permissions and tried... nothing.

typed on the terminal: diskutil list... and I get this:

Name:~ User$ diskutil list

/dev/disk0

#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER

0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.1 GB disk0

1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1

2: Apple_HFS Mac OS 223.5 GB disk0s2

3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s3

Name:~ User$

Bootcamp partition is not listed!!. Is any chance to recover my win7 partition?

Please help! now I am in panic!!!

Keppy, thanks for for fast reply!

It is any chance to recover individual files from the lost partition? I think the lost partition is now unallocated space(?). If this space is not touched maybe is possible to extract individual documents files with special recovery programs? Is a good idea to install this hard disk on pc and try that way?

I also downloaded the test disk. Make this any sense?

Yes, that may be possible.

General File Recovery

If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Recovery software usually provide trial versions that enable you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond this or if the drive has completely failed, then you would need to send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.

The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

test disk ask to unmount the drive but I can not unmount:

Disk /dev/rdisk0 - 500 GB / 465 GiB (RO)

Write access for this media is not available.

TestDisk won't be able to modify it.

- No partition from this disk must be mounted:

Open the Disk Utility (In Finder -> Application -> Utility folder)

and press Unmount button for each volume from this disk

- This media may be physically write-protected, check the jumpers.

>[ Continue ] Continue even if write access isn't available

[ Quit ] Return to disk selection

this process can be done if i put the internal Hard drive in a external enclosure? I have the old Hard drive and can be installed in the MBP instead this one.

After choose the drive i got this menu:

Disk /dev/rdisk0 - 500 GB / 465 GiB (RO)

Please select the partition table type, press Enter when done.

[Intel ] Intel/PC partition

>[EFI GPT] EFI GPT partition map (Mac i386, some x86_64...)

[Humax ] Humax partition table

[Mac ] Apple partition map

[None ] Non partitioned media

[Sun ] Sun Solaris partition

[XBox ] XBox partition

[Return ] Return to disk selection

Hint: EFI GPT partition table type has been detected.

Note: Do NOT select 'None' for media with only a single partition. It's very

rare for a disk to be 'Non-partitioned'.

The harddisk (500 GB / 465 GiB) seems too small! (< 826 GB / 769 GiB)

Check the harddisk size: HD jumpers settings, BIOS detection...
