Q: very slow itunes download

hi

from last 2-3 days i am having a strange problem that all my itunes downloads like the songs which i purchase are downloading super slow at about 20-50kbps whereas my connection is 50mbps dediacted. even app downloads are suffering from the same very slow downloads.all other stuff except for apple downloads are super fast like browsing/youtube/torents or other direct downloads

i tried resetting my router using google dns/open dns but nothing is helping.

many other people are also reporting the same issue i have seen threads being posted this month only but no concrete solution.if anyone can help it will be great.

thank you

Same here, I have tried everything, from switching DNS to Google/OpenDNS, rebooting router, etc. I'm getting 25.71mbps download in the internet health test. But about .2kbps from the iTunes store. Hours to download an app, 30 minutes to download a song.

    Same here from Switzerland… So slow !!! I'm fiber connected (200M) but a 60M download takes 25 minutes !!!

Some download tests from other places are still very fast...

Found this solution elsewhere, this fixed it for me:

    Close your iTunes,

    Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    netsh winsock reset

    Hit "ENTER" key

    Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

there is another thread going on (Nothing will download off the iTunes/App Store) where i just posted this:

i can confirm the problem, originating from today, aug 08-27-2015. yesterday, all had been fine.

updates for apps in itunes or on mobile devices come in at speeds between 150 kB/s or even 20 kB/s only. no way!

internet is fine, all apps working, speed test states full usual download and upload rate. router monitoring tells me that there is no action in background going on.

i also notice that itunes asks me to type in my apple id password every single time i open it.

this is via wlan and lan, for all my devices: black macpro early 2014 and macbook early 2011 (both macos 10.9.5, itunes 12.2.2.25), ipad mini retina and iphone 6 plus (both 8.4.1).

    anybody got an idea?

    thank you!

Yeah I'm still having the same problem with all my apple products downloading music and apps from the store. I've tried everything and it seems it is an apple server problem not my router. hopefully someone got a solution for this.

I've put my ip to a static adress and now it works fine.

don't ask me why, but it does....
