Transfer music on iPad to Macbook

I have an iPad with lots of music that has been downloaded off of CDs on it. The iPad was initially paired with iTunes on a windows laptop but the laptop went in for repairs and everything was wiped off of it. I then purchased a Macbook, but how do I copy the music form the iPad onto the Macbook?

MacBook Air, iOS 8.4.1

Hi PJJ3690,

Most music and other content such as TV Shows or Movies that was previously purchased from the iTunes Store can be either downloaded again from the store or transferred from the iPad. See this article - Download past purchases from iTunes and this one - Redownload or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer.

You mention, however, that much of this music was ripped from CDs. This content can not be moved to a new computer from the iPad. If you have a backup of your old computer you can bring the iTunes library and media files over from that backup. See this article - Back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external drive. In particular the section titled Restore your iTunes Library backup.

If not, you may have to rip the songs again from the original CDs and rebuild the library that way. Import songs from CDs in iTunes
