Do you mean it was restored and now looks like it does when new? Were you backing up to iTunes or iCloud?
~Lyssa
When it asks something like whether you want to leave at as new or restore from a backup, I tried to cancel the reset, but it goes back to the beginning of the reset. What I would like to do is to cancel the rest altogether. I do not have a recent backup and would not like to lose the information.
This sounds like you are in a RESTORE situation. Try resetting the iPad like this:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
It does not seem to work. When it restarts it goes back to resetting the configuration.
What message, exactly, is on the iPad's screen right now?
~Lyssa
The screen appears grey and there is a sliding button saying "configuration" in several languages.
Okay - that's the message you see when the iPad is new from the box....were you backing up to iCloud or to iTunes on your computer at all?
If not, unfortunately all your data is gone. You can re-download your iTunes and app purchases, but the rest of your content is gone.
