Time machine green icon changed to orange on external hdd desktop icon

I will have to check this then and report back as I have restarted my iMac and the drive has changed back to the standard orange colour.

I keep my iMac on 24/7 with "put drives to sleep when possible" Unchecked.

So I will have a look again later after its done a few of its hourly backups, I presume with my sleep settings it should still do backups in sleep?

Well when I was on windows I turned my pc off every night or when not using as it was a noisy old thing with the fans and that.

But with my new iMac its silent and it just seems like they are designed to be on 24/7 unless like you say, away for a few days or more, after all the power button is at the back. So Im leaving it on all the time.

I do have another little niggle it seems where apple mail does not seem to check mail automatically. I did have it on automatically check then tried every 5 minutes but so far Ive not seen mail alerts.

Only seems to check when I open the app. (Im using Imap settings).

Time machine green icon on hdd seems to come and go as it pleases when i logout/switch users but it still seems to be backing up, so its either normal or a minor bug.

As for email notifications, it only seems to check for mail when I open the mail app, I have apple mail set up to automatically check and I have tried every 5 minutes also. Went into apple mail and I had 7 new emails, so somethings up with that.

My passport hdd 2tb is connected via usb3.0, as of today it has turned back to the time machine green icon so I guess its normal or just a bug?
