iPhone 5 won't unlock or slide to power off and it has lines going up and down, What do I do?

I dropped it a couple weeks ago and now it just won't work when I try unlocking or powering off. I was just wondering if I need to get a new phone or get a new screen. I've restarted it a lot as well, but it's still the same.

Hello Lynndsai,
Sorry to hear that your iPhone's screen is unresponsive to touch. There are a few things that you can try to get it working again. Take a look at the troubleshooting below to get you started. If it still does not work, then you will need to contact Apple Support for further assistance.
If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch

Fix your touchscreen

Make sure your hands are clean and dry, then try these steps:

  1. If you have a case or screen protector on your device, try removing it.
  2. Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
  3. Unplug your device.
  4. Restart your device. If you can't restart, force your device to restart.

If your touchscreen still doesn't respond like it should, contact Apple Support or take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Take it easy and have a great day.
