I plug the iPhone into my laptop (G3, 'Pismo'). The phone charges, but never mounts. System Profiler 'sees' and identifies the phone, but I can't get my photos off the thing. The iPhone will talk to PC, but it won't talk to a PPC Mac?

Greetings scuzball,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

From your question, it sounds like you are trying to import photos from your iPhone 5s to your Mac, but your iPhone to show as a camera. If this is correct, I would suggest reading over and working through the steps located in the attached articles below.

The first article attached below has specific instructions for importing photos with either iPhoto, Image Capture, or Aperture.

The next article attached below has some great troubleshooting information if the steps in the above article aren’t working as expected.

Thanks,

I don't see iPhoto in my applications list. I might not have installed it, as I use Photo Shop to deal with pictures.

When I open Image Capture it 'sees' the iPhone and acts as if it imports the photos to Pictures, but nothing shows up there. When I select Import Some photos no thumbnails appear.

I can, however, send the photos to my email and open the attachments.

All my cameras, and my old Sony phone, show up in the sidebar as drives when I connect them.
