Remote Connect To Other iMacs

I'm looking for a way to connect to multiple iMacs on other networks. I have an iMac at work and at home, I'd like to have a way to remotely connect to them from at work and at home. I was looking at "Apple Remote Desktop" but will this allow me to do what I want? Anyone suggest something else? Maybe OS X has something already installed that I can use?

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), null

Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) will allow you to do this along with other VNC clients ARD is good for mac centric networks and offers tools for Mac IT workers specifically.

I've used Teamviewer for ages, since it allows multiple Mac and PC connections. Teamviewer occasionally gets lumped in with many of these "your mac has a virus, please call us" pop ups as the go-to remote client of choice, that's NOT what it was designed to do.
