Hello, can anyone help? I can not hear the text tone or voicemail tone on IOS 8.4.1 iphone 5. The mute button is Off (in the up position). Thanks

If you are not hearing alert sounds on your iPhone 5, first take a look at the sound settings.

From what you are telling me, the only sounds you are not hearing from your iPhone are alert tones, is that correct? Is it possible that you Do Not Disturb enabled? Do Not Disturb will silence your calls, alerts, and notifications.

With Do Not Disturb, you can silence calls, alerts, and notifications that you get while your device is locked.

Turn Do Not Disturb on or off

When Do Not Disturb is on, a crescent moon , or half-moon, icon will appear in the status bar. There are two ways to turn Do Not Disturb on or off:

• Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb. Choose Manual to turn on Do Not Disturb now or set a schedule.
• Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the crescent moon.
