Q: Why can't Siri and My imessaging hear me?

since i installed the update Siri and my imessaging no longer responds to my voice, or any sound for that matter. They both have voice waves like it's trying to pick up sound but they both end up blank or Siri tells me she can't hear me. I have tried rebooting and following apples system for phones with troubles. No avail. Anyone having these issues? Or anyone knoe how I can fix it without having to go in to the store?
