Compressor upgrade
I have compressor 3.5.3 but my Final Cut Pro X does not recognize it.
Do I have to upgrade to Compressor 4.
The app store does not seem to have an upgrade just the new version for $49.99!

As a "Send to" option? yeah...Compressor 3.5 is tied to FCP 7. FCX cannot send to it. For that you need Compressor 4, and no, there's no upgrade cost...just the full price. BUT...once you buy it, every update from now on is free. That's been the case since FCX and Compressor were released 4 years ago. FREE updates...once you buy them.
