Problems importing .olm file from Outlook 2011 for Mac to a new Mac
Hope someone can help me. I know just enough to get myself in trouble!
I have a copy of office for Mac 2011 that's been updated and is current. All I was trying to do was transfer my Outlook information via an. OLM file to Outlook on my new Mac. For various reasons, I wasn't able to recover from Time Machine or from the old machine itself. So I restored my data files from a cloud server, reinstalled the Microsoft office software and all the other software, and moved other files over using filesharing.
I rebuilt the identity on outlook on the old machine, and it created a file with all the data. (I use one of the recover OLS files programs to make sure the data was there, and it is) however, when I restore the data to the new Outlook, nothing comes over except a few old reminders from a year ago.
but when I search on the new mini, I find this - more weirdness – if I search for an email from the old account here's what I see – all the emails are still there but they won't import into Outlook. Here's the file path –
XYZ (my main login)
Documents
Microsoft User Data
Office 2011 Identities
Main Identity
Data Records
Messages
0T
0B
0M
9K
(the message itself)
So everything's there and imported but not in Outlook. Is there any way to recover these emails into the actual application? I've searched around the web to see various workarounds and to be honest I'm technically oriented but the steps are a bit beyond me. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be most grateful.
I was able to export the content separately in the text file and that worked fine.
Thanks so much
Mac mini (Late 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), MS Office 2011
