How do I prevent my me.com email from receiving increasing junk mail?

I've had a me.com email for years now and it never received any spam mails but over the last 6 months I have seen a large increase in spam messages. How do I set up blocks on a me.com e-mail address please ?

Thanks in advance.

PS I use Apple Mail but pressing 'junk' each time doesn't make any difference as the same mails from the same senders keep coming through, as if 'Junk' has no effect whatsoever.

OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), Mac Pro G5 in studio & Retina MBP

If there were a general solution to your question, somebody would be very rich.

The integrated OS X junk mail filtering is... weak. SpamSieve is a commercial add-on filter, and might be useful here.

(n.b. I've purchased SpamSieve licenses, but have no other connections with that organization.)

If they are always coming from the same people, you can create a rule in Mail/Preferences to automatically move the e-mail to the trash.

Ha thank you so much, I agree that Mail's own Junk filtering is very weak. I do use SpamArrest on my other two accounts where I have access to all the SMTP numbers etc but I don't have / can't find those details for my me.com account

Hi Eric

I agree that seems likely to be the only way at present. I guess I just wanted to block the junk at source rather than deal with it afterwards but that may be Utopia !
