Q: Can't turn off FaceTime iPhone calls

I can't stop my iMac's FaceTime app from ringing when my iPhone gets a call. There's a preference in FaceTime, "iPhone Cellular Calls", which I have turned off, but to no avail. Still rings on the Mac. I just discovered the pref in the iPhone to not share phone calls, and turned this off, too, so hopefully that will fix it, BUT, that should be irrelevant. The iMac should be able to disable iPhone calls from the phone, it shouldn't be dependent on the phone's settings. (What if I wanted the iPhone to send calls to a laptop, but not the desktop?)

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

    Hi Daveraved,

I understand that you don’t want to receive phone calls on your computer. I have a suggestion for you, and it involves your settings in FaceTime on your Mac. Unlink your phone number using the information highlighted below:

    Unlink a phone number

To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:

    • Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    • Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.

Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
