Does Lexmark have any scan software for 10.10?
See if it is supported by VueScan software;

Aug 25, 2015 3:14 PM in response to Grg2011by lllaass,Try Image Capture again.
Note the time of the next cancel. After rebooting open the Console app in Finder>Applications>Utilities and look for log entries at the time of the cancel. Post suspicious ones here.
Does the scanner work on another computer?
Try the VeuScan software. there is a free trial.

Aug 26, 2015 12:58 PM in response to lllaassby Grg2011,Thanks for your Ideas. I found that Lexmark have a separate driver for the Scanner element of the all in one device. While its a little behind the current version of Yosimite it does work via the image capture application with some limitations.
Thanks again for your help.
