Reconnect Media not working. Files changed, help?

I am currently working on a new project in final cut express and everytime I open it up it says a different amount of files are missing. I go to reconnect the media, and the file isn't recognized. When I look in capture scratch at the actual file, it has changed to a different one. Now I've saved it on three different hard drives so I can reconnect more easily, but that's now not working as it is corrupting the other files as well. How can I stop this?
