Alchemy CPU Usage

There are some patches that are crazy CPU intensive, even at modest buffer settings. CPU and Audio clips at 64 and 32 samples with those patches. I'm not running on a slow machine. Anybody else experiencing this?

Alchemy can be a high CPU demanding plugin..... It always was and still is.

However, did you adjust the CPU usage for it via it's drop down menu in the top right hand side of the plugin? It's labelled "Quality" and by default it is set to Great.....

Note: Running Logic with only a 32 or 64 i/o buffer size.. can put a great strain on your system.. Try adjusting that to 128 to ease the strain a little.... You probably wont even notice the small amount of additional latency after a short while of usage... I even run mine at 256 at times when using a large number of high CPU usage plugins like multiple copies of Diva for example....

I'm new to this plugin, so thanks for the pointer to the "quality" setting. However, I have yet to find a patch that this setting makes any noticeable difference on CPU usage. Also, I mentioned the faster buffer settings because even some of my more demanding software instruments (granted, these are mostly samplers) don't choke up like Alchemy does at those settings. I prefer 128 as an absolute bare minimum for live playing. 64 and 32 where possible, which is the feasible the vast majority of the time. The point being - so far - Alchemy uses almost as many CPU cycles as a MOTU convolution reverb (one of the most notoriously inefficient reverbs available in plugin format). Just seems kind of steep for what is going on.
