I don't know if Windows 10 updated today but now, if I open iTunes, it freezes and won't let me make any selections. I have to close it through task manager and it seems that it drives disk usage way up. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm on an HP Laptop.
This issue sometimes could be fixed by running iTunes as administrator or in safe mode. If problem continues to occur, you need to remove SC files, move itunes preference folders, etc. For more solutions and detailed steps, you can refer to

I had [Repeat HAD] this issue due to itunes forcing me to use the "Library" dropdown option to switch between playlists, albums, songs, etc...
If this type of freezing is the same for anyone else its worth trying what i did:
Navigate to "View" > "Show Sidebar" or use "Control" + "S"
I just found this option hidden away and has so far solved my own freezing problems.

Sometimes opening iTunes once in safe mode, or right-clicking the icon and using Run as administrator, can sort out possible issues with settings and preferences. I'm not sure how this fixed the problem for me, but after googling the issue, I found a site suggesting that it is necessary to rename the Apple folder in your program files to Apple.old and it should work. I tried it out myself after suffering from many hours of slow processor speeds and zero itunes functionality, and it worked. My computer is running normaly again. I have no idea why this worked.

I opened iTunes in safe mode. The problem seemed to be gone. So, I went to the iTunes plugins folder; however, the folder is empty. Is there another location where plugins are stored?
This was happening to me to. Now I open iTunes as an administrator and it seems to work fine. This is probably a security risk, but it's the only way I can get iTunes to run.
