I can't see some IMessages that contacts send?

When I send an IMessage to a contact, they tell me they recieve it and responded. The problem is I never saw their respond. Is it my phone? This is an on and off again problem. I can go days or just 5 minutes before this happens. It's only occurring with one contact.

iPhone 5c, iOS 8.4.1

Hello EthanBradly,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If your iPhone is not receiving messages from just a single contact, then I recommend doing the following:

Check the recipient's contact info

  1. Make sure that you're using the right phone number or email address.
  2. Go to Settings > Messages > Blocked and make sure that they're not on your block list.

Delete existing conversations

If you can't send messages to a certain recipient, delete any conversations you have with them and try sending a new message. When you delete a conversation, you won’t be able to recover it. Make sure that you take a screenshot or forward any messages that you want to keep.

Restart your device and check for updates

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Check for a carrier settings update.
  3. Check for an iOS software update.

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Cheers.
