I have just updated and went to try out Alchemy. Even without me doing anything it is outputting whiteish noise. Hitting a key on my keyboard generates a different sound.
Look through the instrument the Arpegiator seems to be running and I can't seem to stop it.
Other software instruments work fine.
I am new to this, and it looks incredibly complicated but this behaviour still seems odd. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if not how to fix it?

That's not normal. First, fill out the feedback form (in the Logic Pro X menu). Second, reboot your Mac, relaunch Logic, see if that noise is still there.
I just tried that but unfortunately it didn't make a difference. Here's my findings ( I am using a Novation Launchkey Mini as keyboard input ).
1. If I create the Alchemy track and have the Launchey key plugged in then this noise appears ( it does change when the parameters are changed ). Playing the keyboard produces the synth sound over this noise.
2. If I unplug the Launchkey the noise continues.
3. If I redo this without the launchkey plugged in then the noise goes away. Using the piano roll keyboard everything works fine.
4. the arpeggiator is running even though the little knob says "Off"
5. On the midi in/out it flickers between nothing and C2-127. I have ignored this before, it seems rather spurious.
6. With other software instruments I have not noticed any similar issues.
I haven't filled out the feedback form but I will do that now.

Essentially those flickering Midi Messages that I mentioned seem to be do with the Control Surface setup so I deleted the control surfaces and it works ok.
I now need to see if I can set up a control surface the works with the full Launchkey functionality without causing these issues.
