how do i get photos from my ipod while its turned off?

So my iPod touch 5th gen is not powering on, i've tried everything and even contacted Apple support and they eventually send to just send it off but that is E171.30!!!!! Which is absolutely ridicoulous! Its not worth getting repaired anymore so I wanna get a new device but i want to transfer all my photos to my computer but i obviously cant turn it on (tried hard reset, recovery mode etc) CAN ANYONE HELP I WANT MY PHOTOS!?
