Samsung display very blurry

I'm using a MacBook Pro 10.10.5 and purchased a Samsung S27D590C monitor. I am connected via a HDMI cable (it came with the monitor). I'm mainly using the monitor to write/read/edit text, and it's display is awful. Can anyone offer any support. I played with the settings (brightness, etc.) but nothing seems to work.

Thanks!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Your laptop is recognizing your monitor as a TV. It is the signal that is being output from your Macbook Pro to the Samsung monitor. With HDMI the output is not text friendly.

The simple solution is to buy mini-display port to DVI or mini-display port to VGA adapter (depends on what other inputs your monitor has). It will resolve the issue.

A not so simple solution is to search on Google and you will come across a modified file that needs to be pasted somewhere in User's library or System's library (not sure which one) and it will allow the monitor to be recognized as a peripheral display than a TV using HDMI.

An intermediate and somewhat unfounded solution is to play with underscan/overscan settings on your Macbook Pro or the Samsung monitor or both. Also, you can use the alt/option key when you select the resolutions under System Preferences>Display; it will allow for a few more options to become available.

My solution was to go buy an adapter and the issue was resolved.

Good luck
