Go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Voice Over and uncheck Enable Voice Over. If it is off, turn it on, wait a 10 seconds and turn it off again.
I have tried this several time and still everytime i start my macbook voiceover comes on.thanks
What version of OS X are you running?
10.8.5
Ok, Mountain Lion has two implementations for Voice Over. The first is what you checked in Accessibility. This provides voice over for all active windows. If you get voice over for everything, you can toggle that Voice Over on and off by using Command-F5 as well as what you did with the menus. If toggling with the menus didn't work, maybe Cmd-F5 will. There is also a separate selection for login voice over in Mountain Lion. Let's a check the login set up and make sure Voice over isn't selected for login.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups.
Select your your username.
Make sure "Use VoiceOver in the login window." is set to off (not selected)
Thank you very much that voice was driving me crazy.
You're welcome. Glad I could help. I know its annoying. My kids turn the equivalent on every once and a while on our only Windows machine and it takes me 5 minutes of listening to voice over each time until I remember how to turn that one off!
