Q: Using Migration Assisitant

Can I use Migration to transfer my files, applications as well, from my old IMac to a new MacBookPro in stages versus all at once. Example:applications first, and then other files in steps. If this is possible could I just transfer /pick and choose from just some applications, vs. all?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

If you want detailed control like that, it might be easier to just connect the two Macs with an Ethernet wire and than drag and drop the content from the old hard drive to the new. That is much faster than Migration Assistant.

Thanks.
I use wifi vs. Ethernet. Just need to confirm I can just connect both computers via ethernet cable

Yes, just take a simple Ethernet wire and plug it into the two Macs. They will automatically network and you can open the hard drive of the old Mac and drag-and-drop the folders/files you want to transfer to the new machine hard drive.
