Apple TV Airplay from the Mac, 1080P and 5.1 Surrounding Sound

Hi,

I watch 1080p videos on my Macbook Pro (2014) Safari browsers a lot, and I would like to watch these videos my TV. So I got an Apple TV (3rd gen) and hopefully I can use airplay to achieve this goal. But I have two questions:

(1) Does the Apple TV support 1080p output if I use airplay mode on my Macbook Pro? I heard some people telling me that airplay on Mac is actually mirroring so it would only support 720P instead of 1080p. Is that true?

(2) If my video source has 5.1 surrounding sound, will the 5.1 surrounding sound be transferred to Apple TV and then my TV via the airplay? I do have a 5.1 surrounding sound system so I would like to take advantage of it.

If the Airplay doesn't support 1080p video or 5.1 audio output, what shall I do?

Thanks a lot.
