Ipod 5 says it's charging but won't turn on

After my Ipod touch 5th gen recently died, it doesn't seem to be charging even though it says it is. As of late, it will only charge on my computer or "charging station" because... the wall doesn't have enough juice? It is not plugged into the comuter and has the red battery sign that normally means it is charging after it's dead, but it hasnt turned on from that for an hour. Is my battery just shot, or is there some fix?

Note- My home button no longer works so any fixes involving that wont help me at all.

It also isn't my charger because i have tried multiple cords that are proven to work

iPod touch, iOS 8.4.1

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see from your post that your iPod touch (5th generation) is not charging properly. To help troubleshoot this issue I suggest going through the steps outlined below.

If the battery doesn’t charge

If the battery doesn’t charge, unplug your device and try these steps:

Look at the connector at the bottom of your device and make sure it’s free of debris.

If you're using a USB power adapter, make sure it's plugged in all the way and the power outlet is working. If you're connecting to a computer, make sure it's on and can charge your device. To charge an iPad, you might need to use a USB power adapter and plug into a power outlet.

Try a different USB cable, USB power adapter, or USB port.

If everything seems to be working, reconnect your device and wait for 30 minutes.

If your device still doesn’t charge, try to restart it while it's connected to power. If you can't restart, force your device to restart.
