unable to send outbound mail from a pop account in apple mail

As of yesterday, I suddenly can't send outbound (smtp) mail on a Go Gaddy pop mail account. I have tried multiple internet connections and device platforms and have isolated the problem to Apple Mail. Has anyone suddenly experienced a similar problem? I'm wondering if something changed in a recent update but don't recall installing an update to this Mac in the last few days. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I have double checked the config settings and they are the same on my Amazon Kindle (android) which is able to send outbound mail.

I gather you are able to get your Go Gaddy pop mail you just can't send it. That you have tried multiple Internet connections and device platforms, does that mean different networks and different computers? What errors do you get?
