Ipod nano 1st generation - attempting to copy to disk but failed. What to do to fix this problem?

I've had 2 Iphones and 2 Ipod's nano (2 different versions) connected to my computer but now we are now down to the Ipods. Neither Ipod will sync with Itunes.I keep getting message that states: Attempting to copy to disk "Owner's IPO" failed. How do I fix?
