Stolen iPod Classic issue

My iPod Classic was stolen from my home this weekend. Even though the Classic has been discontinued, Apple has, in the past, still permitted me to pay ~$130 for a replacement (on the multiple occasions that the thing broke)—is this a policy they would consider applying in this case? I loved that device so, so much, and I would hate to say a permanent goodbye to its likeness...

If Apple won't let me buy a replacement, will the Genius Bar still service an iPod Classic if I purchase one on eBay?
