Q: I want to set up family sharing with a 4th Gen ipod as the adult

I am trying to set up family sharing so I don't have to buy the same album or song twice, but I don't want to have the same iTunes account. Basically I have a 5th gen iPod, and my mum has a 4th Gen, and we want to know if there is a way to set up the account so that she is the authorizer. It would be better if we could do this on the pc, but if there is a way to change the authorizer after the account is set up, or something like that it would be helpful.

You need iOS 8 to use family sharing. You will be able to use it, but your mom will need a 5th or 6th generation iPod.

The control device has to have iOS 8 or a Mac with Yosemite but an member device like the 4G can be a member.

I just realized lllaass is correct. The Family Sharing page is confusing.

iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality.

After reading up to "Or join a family group" I posted my reply. But if iOS 8 is required to join or set up, why does it say "And are recommended for full functionality"
