Setting up Time Machine to back up to Google Drive

I have manually backed up a lot of material from my Mac hard disk to Google Drive. How can I set Time Machine up to work with Google Drive in order to keep the backed-up files up to date?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Time Machine won't back up to the cloud.

But I have now discovered (I have only just installed Google Drive) that one doesn't need Time Machine. Google Drive does it automatically all by itself! Any change I make in particular files or folders or in all the ones that I have loaded into Google Drive, depending on preference settings, are immediately reflected in the copies in Google Drive.
