Controller - operation of individual tracks?

I have an Akai MPK 88 Controller.

I'd like to set it up so that the first fader (there are 8) sends to Track 1 (no matter what kind of track it is) and fader 2 sends to Track 2 (no matter what type) and so on.

8 knobs for pan, 8 buttons for mute, etc.

I've used the learn feature to have fader 1 control track 1 when only track one is present. Yay!

But if I add a 2nd track, and it's selected, moving the fader on the keyboard controls track 2 - which I DON'T want!

I don't want it do affect the "selected track". I want it to affect Track 1 period. I've tried all of the other combinations I can see.
