charge logo blinking when plugged in

This problem just accured to me today when i plug in my 5th gen ipod touch to my laptop or wall outlet the ''need to charge icon/logo'' strats blinking indicating that it needs to plug in when it is already plugged in.

The icon is blinking it goes to black and comes back on always with the lightning connector logo on the bottom of the screen.

I suspect a bad cable. charging source or connector in the iPod

If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G or later iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

- If a 5G ot later iPod

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
