That is your disk space usage.
They are different. RAM is the memory that the CPU uses to work from. Disk space is where your data is permanently stored.
huh? RAM usage is right there. Under HD. with 4GB. I can safely say its probably having a lot of pressure, and SWAP.
In which case yes. Definitely. 4GB is the bare minimum. Going from 4GB to 16GB will make a big difference.

Only when the MBP requires more than 4 GB RAM, then it will help. If you are using applications that will use a lot of RAM, then by all means install addition RAM. You have mentioned several applications that fall into that category. I have installed the maximum RAM in all of my MBPs for the simple reason, if I need it, it is there.
The best sources for Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
If you want to exploit the maximum performance capability for your MBP install A SSD. That of course is dependent upon the size of the bank account. I recommend OWC and Crucial SSDs. Avoid Samsung at this time. There have been too many problems listed on these forums regarding Mac compatibility.
