FaceTime camera stopped working after updating to 10.10.5

For some reason after updating to Yosemite 10.10.5 my camera has stopped working. Spent all day on the phone to Apple but nothing has worked. The computer is still seeing the camera in system information but not switching it on when I open apps such as FaceTime or Photo Booth.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

They told me first to try restarting my machine. Didn't do anything to help. Then a variety of starts whilst holding down different buttons. Nothing helped. Then tried deleting my entire hard drive and reinstalling the OS. The problem with that was when I reinstalled the OS it loaded the most up to date version. Which is the version I appear to be having problems with. So nothing they did helped in the least. My next course of action is an appointment at a store.
