Pages not working?

Hey i have a older mac that i had to reinstall the software on it. When i did, pages did not work and was asking for 10.7.4. I have 10.6.8 and need pages for school work and writing. Well i asked my problem to the community and got a reply saying i should buy the iWork 09' disc and reinstall it. So i did, and i still have the same problem where it just pops up with the unexpectedly quit. I do not know what to do!
