Is 1-877-393-6511 a legitimate number for "Apple Care Phone Support?"
This looks like a scam to me.
I just received the following pop-up message. Can anyone confirm that it is bogus? Thanks.

Apple would never send a message like that. Thus indeed a scam.
In the event you ever receive an ad, pop-up, e-mail, or phone call advising your system has been compromised these are all SCAMS.

Force Quit Safari
Hold down the Shift Key
While holding Shift, click on Safari to reopen it
Once Safari opens completely you can release the Shift key
That will prevent Safari from reloading that page
Consider downloading and installing MalwareBytes to scan for adware
Although it s never wrong to run AdwareMedic (now called MalwarebytesAnti-Malware), I am sure that these scams are not the result of adware.
