I enter a new event with all the specifics and it appears on the monthly view. Then the specifics disappear and the entry appears on the month view just as a "new event". Never had the problem before but started recently. Don't have the problem on my iPhone.

Try restarting the computer and then retest. I know this sounds too simple but it might work.
The problem is caused by a bug. Save the new event without modifying it, then edit it and make whatever changes you want.
I'm guessing if there was a way to debug, you would've mentioned it... Thank you.
If there is a better workaround, I don't know of it. Eventually the bug will be fixed by Apple, but I have no idea when.
