No. Press and hold down the Power button until the computer shuts down. Wait one minute then restart the computer. If there is no change then post where the Setup Assistant is stopping - what were you doing in the Setup Assistant at the time it hung?
It would help to tell us exactly which MBP model you have.
This was the first time that I have turned it on... I bought it yesterday, I just entered my icloud information in and that was where it froze up. The box says it is a --- A1278
Are you sure this is new? My information shows that the last model that was in the A1278 series was a Mid-2012 13" MBP.
I purchased it yesterday at BestBuy
If you bought it as new, return it for a refund—it's used. I strongly suggest that you avoid doing business with BestBuy.
What model did you think you were getting? A 2015 or 2014 model? They both have different series numbers. You may want to chat with Best Buy about this. Especially if someone put the right model in the wrong box or vice-versa. If you get it to boot, finally, select About This Mac from the Apple menu in the far left of the menubar. Verify the model information to be sure you have what you thought you paid for. There is a Mid-2012 model that is still being sold by Apple. It is the last of the non-Retina models. They are still being manufactured.
You may clearly be wrong since the Mid-2012 MBP 13" is the non-Retina model Apple still sells.
In case you're confused, an untouched new Mac does not start up for the first time directly to a "Setting Up" screen. If that is what happened, then someone else used it before you did. You should have been prompted to enter some information before you got to that screen.
This is not what the OP said. We don't know what happened after the Power button was pressed for the first time.
