Q: Why is Airdrop so utterly ****? Email is a quicker and easier way to send files. Why?!
When I want to send a file to someone, or even to my own phone and between my devices - airdrop should be the obvious choice. But it just doesn't work.
First of all, can you see devices on your network instantly? No....so I've learn't to wait...and wait...where is it? Zzzz.... Minutes later, oh, and there it is. Eventually my phone pops up on the screen after waiting for an age.
So I drag the file across, expecting instant movement....and then what? The download doesn't start immediately, sometimes it is refused altogether, even though I haven't refused it....it doesn't work.
So what do I do? While I'm waiting I literally email it to myself....woosh.I look in my sent items on my phone and open the attachment. There it is. And download it to my phone.
This puts like three extra steps in the process but is much faster than airdrop. So clearly the technology behind the curtain is there to make this process much faster than the current rubbish.
Please, please apple....sort it out!
Thanks,
James
