Importing RAW files to the Air

I learned today, from the Apple Shop, that the 2 USB ports, on the Macbook Air, are not the same.

I did not understand all the jargon but...

There are 2 USB ports. One on each side.

The USB port on the Right, is a Proper USB port.

The USB port on the Left , is some sort of cheap knock off.

So, Using a card reader, if you plug into the Cheap Left Port, and start importing RAW files, as they are processed, red lines appear through all the photos.

Something to do with : Not enough power to the left USB Port.

We tried importing from both sides, and sure enough, plug the card reader into the proper USB port, on the Right, and the RAW files load perfectly.
