Sorry, but as you see from the above list your model cannot be upgraded past Lion 10.7.5. Personally, I would stay with Snow Leopard on that model. However, if you want to run a later version of OS X than Snow Leopard, then you will need to buy a newer model. If it's to be an MBA, then you need the Late 2008 or even later model.

Upgrading to Yosemite

You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.

Upgrading to Yosemite

To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

Hi there. Could you tell me what the benefits are if I go with snow leopard instead of lion or yosemite on my Macbook Air A1237? I just upgraded my hard drive to 120GB and now will be installing OS X but want to make sure I get the right version for best performance and security. Your advice would help a bunch. Thanks.
