Messages won't let me sign in with my apple ID
The message app will not let me sign into my apple ID. So therefore I cannot link my iPhone and Mac so I can text off the Mac.

Hi,
We need to know which version of Messages you are using and more specifically the version of the OS.
For instance if you had OS X 10.8.1 or earlier you may find you have an issue if you then update or Upgrade beyond this and the Mac then needs the Serial number to be on the Mother/Logic board.
This is because the Messages app uses a combo of your Password and the Serial Number to create a Unique Authorization Token held in the Keychain.
Has this ID worked before in Messages as the iMessages account ID ?
If it have not is it linked to iCloud ?
