Why aren't my iLife apps free?
I have a MacPro 2011 and I'm assuming I'm not getting iLife because its older? I'm not sure.

Were the iLife apps not included with your computer? They would be on one of the two software restore DVDs that came with your computer. If you upgraded those to the ones from the App Store that you paid for and downloaded, then you can re-download them from your Purchases page in the App Store.
