Only available sound output on my mac is Apple TV

My 2011 macbook air will no longer play sound (something that happened more or less when I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5).

I get nothing out of the speakers or when I plug in headphones. When I look at the sound panel in System Preferences the only option I have for audio output is Apple TV. I resinstalled 10.10.5 but the problem remains.

Help....

Sound – No Sound After Upgrade (2)

Sound – can’t hear sound from speaker - Yosemite

Sound Levels - Troubleshoot

Sound – Troubleshooting Internal Speakers

Try cleaning out the headphone jack and then insert a headphone several time. Sometimes the jack gets stuck.

Sound problems

In the Terminal, type that:

sudo killall coreaudiod

And in the sound preferences, make sure your internal speakers (and not HDMI or other device) is selected.
