Volume decreases after resuming paused music

For a few months the volume on my iPad (mini) would decrease in volume after I resume my music or YouTube video. I am able to fix it by pausing my music or video again and then bring up the hidden menu bar, adjust the brightness slider randomly and then resume again. Most the most that works but it's getting annoying. Any thoughts on how to fix it? I thought about maybe resetting my entire iPad but I'm not sure how much that will help. Any ideas?
