What does the "1" on the Photos icon [ver Version 1.0.1 (215.65.0)] on the dock mean? How do I clear it?

That a someone has added a photo to a shared PhotoStream or made a commend on a photo on a shared PhotoStream - when yu look at the photo or read the comment it goes away
