How do I make sure my iphone photos back up to icloud? Mine seemed to have stopped updating august 10?

I recently updated my iMac to Yosemite and I'm using Icloud for my photos. How do I make sure my iphone photos back up to icloud? Mine seemed to have stopped updating august 10? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?

Settings/iCloud then check the photo box.

You should also make sure you have enough space on your iCloud account otherwise the photo and any other content back up will be interrupted.

iCloud photo library synchronisation is not the same as a back up, please clarify which process you are talking about.
