Mail Search Function on Macbook Air

I am having an issue with the search function on my mail app. I am running on Yosemite 10.10.5. I have rebuilt the mailboxes by deleting the envelope files in the mail data but this does not seem to help. Anyone else with similar problems and possible solutions ??
